Middle Range Pond, Poland

The Range Ponds of Poland are made up of three distinct bodies of water - Upper Range Pond, Middle Range Pond, and Lower Range Pond. They run in a line from north to south with Lower Range being the northern most pond and Upper Range Pond being the most southern. Even though the spelling for the ponds is Range, it's pronounced Rang.

Upper Range Pond is 357 acres in size, has a maximum depth of 38 feet and a water quality rating of "above average" as determined by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Middle Range Pond is 382 acres in size, has a maximum depth of 66 feet, and is "above average" in water quality. Lower Range covers 270 acres in surface area, has a maximum depth of 41 feet, and also has a water quality rating of "above average".

Lower Range Pond is 270 acres in surface area, has a maximum depth of 41 feet, and also has a water quality rating of "above average". It is the location of the Range Ponds State Park. Just a short drive from the Lewiston/Auburn area, Range Ponds State Park welcomes all visitors to come enjoy the wide sandy beach as they swim, picnic and play. Most activity centers on the waterfront which is easily accessible because of the smooth, surfaced promenade that parallels the pond for 1000 feet immediately next to the beach. Its a great place to bring the family and recreate or just spend some quiet time on your own.

Nearby is the Poland Spring Country Club and Golf Course as well as the Fairlawn Golf Course and Country Club.

All of the Range Ponds are great places to fish. Find here smallmouth and largemouth bass, pickerel, perch, brook trout and brown trout. This chain of three ponds is interconnected and have public boat launches. Bring your small power boat, trolling boat, or canoe and enjoy some of the best fishing around.
