Town of Otisfield

With a population of something over 1,500, the town of Otisfield is one of those Maine towns you might drive through and not know you had. There is no real town center but, instead, groupings and hamlets of residences dotting the scenic landscape that comprises the 40 square miles of Otisfield.

State route 121 is the main artery running through Otisfield as it carries travellers from Raymond and Casco through Otisfield and on into Oxford and eventually Auburn and Lewiston. Scenic vistas of the surrounding hills and water bodies can be enjoyed from the top of Bell Hill and Peaco Hill.

Otisfield is home to several beautiful bodies of water - Thomspon Lake, Pleasant Lake, and Saturday Pond. Clean and clear through and through, these three lakes and ponds are among the most popular in the area.

Thompson Lake is by far the largest, being eight miles long and a mile or two wide. Otisfield claims its west shore and locals and visitors alike have enjoyed all forms of water recreation for years here. Pleasant Pond is four miles long and the northern end belongs to Otisfield while the southern end lies in Casco. Pleasant Lake is home to several children's summer camps including the internationaly known "Seeds of Peace" camp located at its northern end in Otisfield. Saturday Pond is the smallest of the three and is the quintessential Maine pond. Quiet, clean, off the beaten path, Saturday Pond offers a serenity and solitude not found on the larger lakes and ponds of the area.

To some, Otisfield may feel a bit remote and out of the way - and that's just what folks here like about it. It is a quiet community offering a natural beauty and a welcoming atmosphere while providing a source of solitude to those who come here to vacation and relax.
