The Full Moon starts the last final week of January 2016 on the 24th, and if you participate in the summer Beach To Beacon race in Cape Elizabeth annually – started by our Olympic champion Joan Benoit Samuelson – you only have six weeks before sign up on March 10-11. Just a reminder as this year starts off quickly, we’ll be through the more difficult parts of winter before we all know it. Unless you profit from high oil prices, there are few complaints of home heating oil and gasoline pricing here in the Maine Lakes Region being at record low levels. The amount of snow removal we have experienced vs other areas of our country have been oddly unique so far this season, to our benefit again, unless snow removal is a core component of your business. We are only a month away from one of our most popular annual events with the Sebago Lakes Ice Fishing Derby the last weekend in February and please check out this year’s online and mobile-friendly site with the agenda and significant prize information, such as $150,000.00 for a record togue:
Shawnee Peak has a 16″ – 24″ base and day and night skiing conditions just up the road are available here:
and anyone with zero athletic skills can find outdoor fun for themselves and their family outdoors sliding swiftly downhill here in Windham:
Here at the office we would like to suggest that if you are considering any real estate changes, or you are simply curious about the possibilities, there is no better time to begin your investigation into the possibilitlies than now. Lot and property full-view is in peak season. It’s a great time to rejoice in the blessings of our true four season living here in the Maine Lakes Region so if you are reading this as a visitor or as a thankful resident, make time to grab a friend or family member, and either come see us, or get out and enjoy!
Do you have Monday January 18th off as a paid Holiday from work? Since none of the (3) winning Powerball tickets were sold in this region I expect it is business as usual for most of us this coming week. I would like you to absorb the following quote from Dr. King as I suggest it demonstrates the real value and spirit of giving, along with the importance that living a thankful life brings to those who choose “the positives” as we each face a new day. And being ‘positive’ is absolutely a choice, amongst our many choices. Move away from the negative, and surround yourself with positives. Be thankful.. In every moment. Be kind. Especially to those with whom you are closest. Here’s the quote that is one of my favorites by Dr. King, and I’ll briefly explain why:
“All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The reason I like this quote so much is because it touches close to home. My Dad R.I.P., and my Mom, always and consistently supported me with whatever I wanted to do. Their attitudes and actions support value, and balance in life. Finding something that you love to do, that really helps people in some way, and doing it to the very best of your ability – and doing so by being helpful, thankful and kind – gives you the blessed opportunity that you will rarely feel that you are working in this life. As we wake up this weekend to winter weather now being the norm here in the Maine Lakes Region, I suggest: Be thankful. I am thankful to Anne Plummer for our professional relationship. Doing the best I know how here, each week, is something I both value, and give thanks for. Getting to know Anne and her team of dedicated professionals has been a delightful bonus and brings my life added value: Because she and her team do care, to be the absolute best for you and towards your Real Estate needs, every day. Find out how, for yourself!
I am starting this blog this weekend here in the Maine Lakes Region with more Powerball Mania around me than I have ever seen before! Everywhere I go these days – in line at the grocery store, visits to local convenience stores – and especially on social media it is certainly the talk of the town, and of the day.. And it will be each day, until someone wins I expect. No one was sure if the Powerball jackpot would be paid in millions.. Or in Billions. And if you have not yet checked your Saturday night Jan 9th ticket(s) – you may find some winnings of course, but not THE jackpot ticket – as it has yet to be sold. The coming draws will bring the winner over 1.3 Billion dollars or potentially much more, and someone will win of course.. And what I would like to suggest, is to really think about what is most important about this phenomenon: It is bringing out the power of dreaming, in most everyone. And there is real power in setting goals. So many people are talking about “what they would do” and what I am hearing, is not as much about “needing huge amounts of $$$” to do things.. It is more about what people would prefer to be doing. My point: Why aren’t you striving to do that – those things – anyway? Why wait? Are you living where you want, with whom you want, and in the environment you want? If not: why not? Are you doing what you love to do each day? Find a way to do that!! With land, real estate, vacation and year round homes in the greater Sebago Lakes area we are experts at helping both dreamers and realists, realize their dreams. We love assisting people towards fulfilling important life goals. Call us today at 207-693-5200 and you will be glad that you did!
This week be careful with your morning commute as area schools are back in session. Most college students do not seem to be traveling back until the Martin Luther King Monday observance mid-month, which appears to be a common consensus this year. Just a quick reminder that many businesses – along with the Banks and Federal services like the Post Office – will be closed on Monday Jan. 18th in observance of the loss of Dr. King 47 years ago this spring. Those of you old enough to remember 1968 will recall a very different lifestyle: Instant access to communications, news, sports, weather, by a device we hold in most of our hands and a network of computers called the Internet was not on anyone’s radar. The first personal computers were still 15 years away then. We wrote letters and mailed them, to communicate to family and loved ones. An art form lost on many, I suggest the power of the handwritten note or letter to someone, is a valuable art worth working on.
We do have amazing opportunities here in the Maine Lakes Region thanks to technology and the Internet. Robust networks from several providers via wire-line and increasing competition is available in the wireless spectrums featuring increasingly powerful hand-held “smartphones” like the one this blog is often written with. Regardless of your age, technology is a tool worth embracing. Simple to learn, using technology to simplify your life makes great sense. Having a thirst for knowledge and self-education is a valuable discipline. Open www.google.com and in the search box type _______ (any topic) + the word “Wiki”. You will be glad you did.
Utilize informational websites like www.maineoil.com to find the lowest price on home heating oil in this moment, as this week upcoming looks our coldest so far this winter. Seek applications like Gas Buddy to find the lowest price on gasoline where ever and when ever needed. Other simple to use free applications like MyFitnessPal allow you to look at the calorie content of every beverage and food item easily before you choose to consume it, and recording and tracking your weight and the benefits of every type of exercise – especially walking and shoveling snow as we will be doing late this season – has never been easier. You can learn how to fix most anything on Earth by opening www.YouTube. com and in the search box, type “Fix _______”. And most importantly, for all of your Maine Lakes Region Real Estate needs,
Anne Plummer & Associates is by far the best place for you for your area needs. Call us today and again: You will be glad you did!
