Memorial Day – always the last Monday in May each year – is a federal holiday in the United States celebrating and remembering the people who have died while serving in our branches of the armed services: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and the Coast Guard. This is an excellent comprehensive list of the conflicts we have engaged in, and you can learn a lot about each branch of our armed forces, here:

We here who proudly serve our friends and neighbors here in the Maine Lakes Region do not endorse any specific travel product or service, and what we do support is the spirit of giving back, of honoring those who have fought and sacrificed for our country, and you never know when just by sharing what you do, and sharing your passion that you have at and for your work, might have a profound effect on someone young or old alike. Here is an excellent Memorial Day example:

Many companies – like Southwest if you Goggle their quiet support of Veterans you will find with their Freedom Flights they have transported over 5100 Veterans to national recognition events around our country – and support of our Veterans, highlighted this Monday May 30th this year, should be no less important the other 364 days that we are each blessed to have the opportunity to enjoy this and every year, with great thanks to our Veterans.

To all those who have served and sacrificed for our country:

Thank you.
