Lovewell Pond in Fryeburg is located south of Rte. 302 and east of Rte 113. It covers 1129 acres in surface area, has a maximum depth of 45 feet, a mean depth of 17 feet, and has a water quality rating of slightly below average. The distance around the pond is 9.4 miles.
Anyone interested in fishing in these waters will find brown trout, white and yellow perch, pickerel, hornpout, and suckers. There is a public boat launch off Rte. 113 at the southwest corner of the pond.
There are about 75 lakefront homes, camps, and cabins with lakefrontage here, as well as three dozen more on back lots that have deeded access to the water.
Several brooks and streams flow into Lovewell Pond while the outlet is the Saco River. There is a large floodplane and area of wetlands here and Lovewell Pond is subject to flooding when the Saco River floods. During these floods the outlet of the pond actually reverses direction and flows back into the pond.
