Pleasant Lake in Casco and Otisfield is aptly named. Four miles long and a mile wide, this 1,332 acre lake has a maximum depth of 62 feet, a mean depth of 29 feet, and water quality rating of “excellent” as determined by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, its higest rating.
The Casco town beach is at its south end and the internationally known “Seeds of Peace” camp is at its northern end. In between are a variety of year round and seasonal homes, as well as other children’s camps, that make for a variety of activity and recreational opportunities all year round.
Fishermen will find lake trout, pickerel, salmon, smallmouth bass, white and yellow perch, and sunfish here.
There is no marina or boating facility on this lake, but there are two public boat launch sites – one at the southern end in Casco next to the public beach area, the other at the northern end off Powhattan Road in Otisfield.
