Brandy Pond Maine Real Estate
Brandy Pond in Naples, also known as the Bay of Naples, is 740 acres in size, about a mile or two long by a mile or two wide, has a maximum depth of 44 feet and a water quality rating of “above average” as rated by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
Brandy Pond is the middle link of a chain of three bodies of water that offer boaters over 35 miles of navigable waters for their boating pleasure. Long Lake lies to the north and reaches to the town of Harrison 11 miles distant while mighty Sebago Lake lies to its south. Between the south end of Brandy Pond and the open waters of Sebago Lake is the Songo River and it well-known lock.
Brandy Pond is home to three marinas, Causeway Marina, Naples Marina, and Moose Landing Marina. All three offer boats for sale and rental, storage, and boat maintenance and repair.
The invasive aquatic plant, milfoil, was found in the northern end of Brandy Pond in 2004, but eradicated by divers pulling it up by hand, according to the Maine DEP. Since then the local Lakes Environmental Association has been waging an heroic battle against milfoil as it has populated the Songo River. So far the LEA has kept it confined to the Songo River and has not allowed it to come into Brandy Pond, but the battle is ongoing.
Aside from its access to the attractions of the Causeway in Naples, Brandy Pond is also home to the Naples Golf and Country Club. This beautiful 18 hole course skirts the shores of Brandy Pond and is open to the public, offering respite to those who might grow weary of the water.
